George Harms Construction Co., Inc. was founded in 1960 by its CEO, George Harms. The company rapidly developed into a contender for the most difficult of heavy civil construction projects. Work performed by George Harms Construction Co., Inc. ranges from highways and bridges to landfills and runways, railroads and electrification, dams, pipelines, buildings, pole line construction, toll plazas and pump stations. George Harms Construction Co., Inc. is a prime heavy highway contractor for both public and private owners including New Jersey Transit, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the New Jersey Highway Authority, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Army Corps of Engineers, Amtrak, the Navy, various county and municipal governments, and The Princeton Forrestal Corporation.

The company maintains a large fleet of late model construction equipment including some of the largest, most technically advanced equipment in the world. The firm rarely rents or leases equipment. All work is performed with owned equipment.

The company has approximately 200 employees and performs between $40 and $50 million dollars worth of work yearly; however, during peak years, this average has been comfortably exceeded.
