Our Union Railroad Station Effort A Project is the first phase of work required to construct a new train station in the Township of Union, New Jersey. This project involved the construction of a 600 foot poured-in-place concrete retaining wall to support an additional track and the construction of a new railroad bridge for New Jersey Transit.
Construction of the wall and bridge was performed directly adjacent to a heavily traveled commuter and freight rail line. To accomplish excavation, a temporary shoring system was required, parallel to the existing track utilizing H-piles, lagging, and grouted tiebacks.
The project also required erection of the new railroad bridge over a heavily traveled county road at night and on weekends. Track structure including subballast and ballast construction was performed. All construction required close coordination with railroad forces and railroad protective personnel. Each facet of work required the approval of site specific work plans.
This project was completed on time and within budget.
