The Adams Station Maintenance Facility in North Brunswick, NJ is located near Milepost 35 of the Amtrak Mainline. The work associated with this contract included the construction of the Maintenance of Way Base Buildings, Repair Shop, and site improvements at Adams Station.
The Maintenance of Way Buildings consisted of the Office/Storehouse building, the Thermit Weld Storage Shed, and Oxygen/Acetylene Storage Shed.
The repair shop building was an early addition to the contract, which included some heavy equipment required to repair the Amtrak trains. Building construction included the installation of shop maintenance equipment. The construction of this project required special coordination with Amtrak forces.
Throughout the project location, Harms was required to perform all sitework. Some of this work included demolition, grading, drainage facilities, excavation, paving, and trackbed preparation. Harms completed all of the required track beds for the yard tracks. Amtrak installed the ties, rails, and ballast from 2 inches below bottom of tie.
This project was completed on time and within budget.
